Ski Helmets Increasing in Popularity: More Brain Injuries are Prevented

The New York Times reports today that helmet use by skiers and snowboarders has dramatically over the last several years with now approximately 50% of all participants using head protection.

I remember several years ago when I approached the ski industry association on behalf of the Brain Injury Association about colloborating on a head injury and helmet awareness program and was met with a great deal of resistence. For the first time this year, Vail Mountain requires all of its employees to wear ski helmets.

Isn't it time that all ski resorts require all of their eimployees to wear ski helmets and set the right example?
