Comprehensive injury fund needed for brain injured boxers

A story appears in today's Las Vegas Review Journal on the need to set up a comprehensive fund to provide medical benefits for injured boxers.

Apparently under Federal law each state must have a fund to provide medical benefits to boxers injuured in the ring, but there are no mandatory minimum benefits and no mandatory services that must be provided.  This leaves injured boxers without adequate benefits or adequaqte protection.  Some states only provide a ridiciouls amount of $50,0000 in benefits, not much considering the high costs involved in brain injury rehabilitation and the need for life long treatment.
