NCAA Recommends New Concussion Rules
According to a late breaking story on the Associated Press: An N.C.A.A. panel is recommending a rule to help improve the handling of concussions that would sideline an athlete for at least the rest of the day if he or she loses consciousness or shows other worrisome symptoms during competition.
The rule, which would affect all sports, is from the N.C.A.A. Committee on Competitive Safeguards and Medical Aspects of Sports, which ended a three-day meeting in Indianapolis on Tuesday.
The panel also recommended sidelining an athlete with less severe concussion-related symptoms until cleared by a doctor.
I have not reviewed the panel's recommendations and will post them as soon as they are received.
