Concussion Information

With all the controversy surrounding the recent death and injuries sustained by Natasha Richardson, it would be useful for all to review the free information provided by the Centers For Disease Control (CDC)regarding sports related concussions.

To help ensure the health and safety of young athletes, CDC developed the “Heads Up: Concussion in Youth Sports” initiative to offer information about concussions—a type of traumatic brain injury—to coaches, parents, and athletes involved in youth sports. The “Heads Up” initiative provides important information on preventing, recognizing, and responding to a concussion.

This publication includes information on  how to identify concussions, the signs and symptoms of concussions and the long term consequences of concussions as well as important decisions regarding return to play.

One of their excellent publications is Head's Up Concussion In Sports .
