On Wednesday evening, I had the privilege of being one of the sponsors along with the brain injury law firm of De Caro & Kaplen, LLP of the gala dinner on behalf of the Brain Injury Association of New York State.

The dinner honored Steven R. Flanagan, M.D., the new chair of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine ofNYU Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation by presenting him with the "Champion of Hope Award" for his work in the field of traumatic brain injury.  Also honored were Kim Williams, chief operating officer of the NFL network for her fund raising efforts on behalf of the association.  She was presented with the "Corporate Citizen of the Year Award".  Timothy Pruce,, the outreach coordinator of advocacy and peer support at the NY Traumatic Brain Injury Model System, Mt. Sinai Medical Center, a person who sustained a brain injury was also honored with the "Victory Award" for his efforts on behalf of persons with a brain injury and their families.

My congratulations to all award recipients.

It was a fabulous evening with the added bonus that the Brain Injury Association received significant contributions to enable it to continue its mission of advocacy and support of victims of brain injury and their families throughout New York State.
