I'm on my way to Washignton D.C. this morning to participate in a press conference intended to present to Congress a recent study regarding cutting edge advancements in research and treatment for Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and the “vegetative state.”   

With TBI as the signature injury of the war in Iraq and terrorism; with 1.6 million Americans suffering a TBI each year, at an annual cost of $60 billion dollars, the ‘silent epidemic’ of TBI must be heard.   

I look forward to participating with the National Brain Injury Research, Treatment and Training Foundation and members of the Congressional Traumatic Brain Injury Task Force in moving forward with needed brain injury research.
