Epilepsy and Driving

The lack of driving privileges is one of the major concerns for people with epilepsy.  An editorial in this months British Medical Journal calls for uniformity in laws in Europe concerning restrictions imposed upon driving for persons diagnosed with epilepsy.

A similar problem exists in the United States where each state imposes different restrictions on driving privileges for epilepsy.  State and Federal law makers should read this editorial and develop a uniform set of rules in the United States as well.

The editorial has a great deal of valuable information on the hazards of driving by persons with epilepsy and the relative risks dependent upon the type of epilepsy being considered.
