American Academy of Neurology Supports Congressional Stem Cell Research Bill
The American Academy of Neurology (AAN) today issued a position statement in support of the legislation (The Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act of 2005 (S.471) currently pending in the United States Senate to expand the scope of stem cell research to include embryos no longer intended for fertility treatments. The legislation has already passed the House of Representatives and the Senate is likely to take up the measure in mid July.
Stem cell research hold promise for the treatment of neurological diseases and brain damage caused by trauma as well as brain damage caused by epilepsy and other neurological disorders. Read the full statement of the American Academy of Neurology by clicking here .
