Brain Injury Association of America-Legislative Update
Here is the latest legislative update from the Brain Injury Association of America (BIAA):
Last week, BIAA met with key federal agencies, congressional offices and related organizations to advocate for legislative and regulatory initiatives that would improve access to care for individuals with brain injury, including: • Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) • National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR) • Senator Tim Johnson (D-SD) • Senator Mark Kirk (R-IL) • American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation • American Medical Rehabilitation Providers Association
This week, BIAA submitted comments to the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) regarding future research needs of multidisciplinary rehabilitation of adults with moderate to severe TBI.
We also submitted comments to Centers on Medicare and Medicaid on the proposed regulations for the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act's Essential Health Benefits in Alternative Benefit Plans and collaborated with the Consortium of Citizens with Disabilities in filing comments relative to other aspects of Medicaid expansion under the Affordable Care Act.
