Support The Needs of Children With Brain Injury & Their Families
A one day symposium is being sponsored by the Brain Injury Association of New York State for professionals working with children with brain injury and their families.
The educational program is scheduled for November 8, 2006 from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM at North Shore University Hospital, 300 Community Drive, Manhasset, New York.
As President of the Brain Injury Association of New York State, I am pleased to have been asked to deliver the opening remarks on what promises to be a very informative program for professionals and family members.

10:15-10:45 Medication Management for Cognitive and Behavioral Challenges in Children and Adolescents with Brain Injury, Zinoviy Gutkovich, MD, Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, Albert Einstein College of Medicine
11:00-11:30 Identification of Children and Adolescents with Brain Injury in the School System, Mary Hibbard, PhD, Professor, Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Mount Sinai School of Medicine
11:30-12:00 Educational Re-Integration for Children With Brain Injury, Mark Ylvisaker, PhD, Professor, College of St. Rose
12:00-12:30 The Future of Neuro-Rehabilitation, Paul Berger Gross, PhD, TBI Program Director, St. Mary's Hospital for Children
Starting at 1:15, their will be several sessions dealing with emotional issues in children following a traumatic brain injury, managing children in the classroom, sports related brain injury issues and when to allow children to return to play and a family round table discussion.
All attendees will receive a certificate of attendance for use in applying for continuing education credits in their individual disciplines.
