Proving again that concussions can have lingering affects that are not immediately apparent, Rams, linebacker, Orlando Pace has been put on the disabled list for this Sunday's game.
Pace suffered a concussion two weeks ago and was allowed to return to play last Sunday. Although he was cleared by team doctors to play last week, Pace seems to be affected by lingering effects of the concussion. While this may come as as surprise to the "professionals" attending to Pace, it comes as no surprise to those who understand that the complaints associated with the post concussion syndrome can appear days or even weeks following a concussion.
According to reports, Pace returned to play after which he complained of what he called a searing headache that night and wasn't even able to sleep.
For the sake of these players and their families as well as for children and parents who look to these players and their coaches for guidance on how to deal with concussions, extreme caution is again urged in making return to play decisions. Apparaently common sense may not be so common for everyone in the NFL!
