TBI Program to Be Eliminated in Proposed Federal Budget
The new federal budget unveiled earlier this week by President Bush proposes the complete elimination of the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) TBI Program. This program has provided grants to state agencies and protection and advocacy organizations to improve access to health and other services for individuals with TBI and their families.
The Brain Injury Association of America has announced that it will lead the battle to restore traumatic brain injury funding in the federal budget and reauthorize the TBI Act with appropriate levels of funding for federal agencies to carry out the law's purpose.
Meetings have been scheduled in Washington D.C. on March 14th, 15th, 16th and 17th to formulate a plan of action and to meet with legislative representatives. If you have any questions, please contact Amy Hermansen, legislative assistant at the national offices of the Brain Injury Association of America. Her email address is ahermansen@biausa.org
