Congressional Brain Injury Task Force

As the former chair of the trial lawyers traumatic brain injury litigation group, I have been asked to forward this important information to all who are concerned with the rights of individuals who have sustained a brain injury and their families.

Several years ago, a bipartisan Congressional Brain Injury Task Force was created by some members of Congress who were concerned with services available to victims of brain injury.  The task force serves to improve programs for individuals who have sustained traumatic brain injury and their families. It focuses on informing members of advances in TBI services, the development of new programs under the TBI Act and the challenges faced by the TBI community.

The co chairs of the task force, Congressman Bill Pascrell, Jr. (NJ) and Todd Russell (PA) have recently sent a letter to all members of congress asking them to join the TBI task force.  To highlight the importance of this task force, please send a letter to your congressional representative asking them to join the task force.  If you representative is already a member, please send them a thank you letter and inform them of the difficulties that you or your loved one faces living with a traumatic brain injury.

Brain injury lawyers need to send letters as well, informing their congressional represenative of the difficulties and hardships faced by their clients in obtaining just and adequate compensation.  Brain injury lawyers must tell their congressional represenative that jury trials should not be restricted and caps should not be imposed upon the pain and suffering of victims of brain injury or their families.  BRAIN INJURY LASTS A LIFETIME.

Neuropsychologists, brain injury rehabilitation specialists and neurologists must also inform their congressional representatives of the life long consequences of traumatic brain injury as well as the needs and hardships faced by their patients and family members.
